About me

Hey there, I'm Joseph Tian, also known as Ge Tian as my Chinese name, a composer with a lifelong passion for music. It all started when I was just six years old and began playing the piano. I quickly fell in love with the instrument and knew that I wanted to spend my life creating beautiful music.

Fast forward to 2006, and I began my music career in Beijing, China. I composed music for films, TV series, documentaries, animations, musicals, popular songs, and commercials, with some of my work being played in theaters all across China. It was a thrilling time in my life, and I felt like I was truly living my dream.

But as much as I loved my work, something was missing. In 2018, my wife and I made the bold decision to move to the US to focus on our shared passion for gospel music. We're currently living in southern California. Yes, we go to Disneyland every week, where is our happiest place. I joined the More Christian Gospel Music Ministry and released my first album, "The Hymns Collection by Joseph Tian," which was a true labor of love. 

I'm incredibly proud of my ability to compose in various music styles, but gospel music holds a special place in my heart. It's a genre that speaks to me on a spiritual level, and I believe it has the power to move people in a way that few other genres can.

Looking ahead, I want to continue composing for films and TVs while also organizing a performance group for gospel music. I have big plans to take our show on the road and tour the US, spreading the joy and inspiration of gospel music wherever we go.

For me, music is more than just a career – it's a calling. I'm grateful every day for the opportunity to share my love of music with the world, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes me next.

Film "Urban Games"

Joseph Tian, known for his excellent musical works and reputation in the domestic music circle, secured a deal with the largest film studio in China, China Film Group Corporation (CFGC), in 2014. He was chosen to score "Urban Games", a high-budget Chinese-United States action-thriller film. The production team, which included Martini Films, was top-notch and featured renowned directors Bob Brown and Peng Zhang, as well as actors Shawn Dou and Michelle Chen.

Joseph Tian's wonderful music received critical acclaim from the production team, music peers, and audiences. This project was yet another testament to his exceptional talent in composing music that fits perfectly with the film's atmosphere and tone.

Joseph Tian collaborated with Zhuoxin Yang in scoring the 2013 blockbuster film "Silent Witness". The film won 15 awards and received 10 nominations in various categories at domestic and international awards ceremonies, making it a benchmark for crime thriller films.

IP "Mini Marilyn"

DMG Entertainment has developed Mini Marilyn, an original animated character inspired by American film icon Marilyn Monroe. Mini Marilyn will serve as an engine for licensing, retail and other brand opportunities including film, TV, videogames and next-gen technology.

Joseph Tian was invited to create the promotional music for the character, which can help set the tone for the Mini Marilyn brand and help promote it in various media.
